Together We Win: Student Minister Troy Muhammad Inspires a Movement of Faith and Unity

Updated: 3 days ago

In a time when the challenges facing Black communities often seem insurmountable, Student Minister Troy Muhammad of the Nation of Islam has proven that faith and unity can ignite change. Recently, at Muhammad Mosque #1 in Detroit, what began as a call for 100 men turned into a historic gathering of over 300 Black men, all committed to prayer, reconciliation, and uplifting their communities. This remarkable event, shared by Minister Troy Muhammad on his social media platform, is a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative potential of faith.

“I called, I texted, I reached out through others… AND THEY CAME!” Minister Troy Muhammad shared. “ALLAH (GOD) BLESSED OUR CALL OF 100 TO PRODUCE 300!” The mosque was filled to capacity as Black men from all walks of life—Muslims, Christians, pastors, hustlers, business owners, young men, elders, and even public officials like Detroit Deputy Police Chief Franklin Hayes and Fire Chief James Harris—gathered in a spirit of prayer and inspiration.

This wasn’t just another event; it was a movement. Minister Troy Muhammad explained the purpose behind the gathering: “I wanted to pass on the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s words concerning the seriousness of the time we are living in. Going into this new year, prayer and reconciliation with God is a must!” Each speaker, representing various faiths, reinforced this message, urging the men in attendance to embrace their roles as vessels of God and agents of change in their communities.

The energy in the room was electric. “The spirit was on 100!” Minister Troy Muhammad exclaimed. “A room of Black men praying, embracing, exchanging positive energy, agreeing to be vessels of God!” This wasn’t a scene of negativity or violence; this was 300 men deciding to get closer to God, reclaim their purpose, and commit to building stronger families and communities.

Among those present were notable community leaders and influencers, including Malik Shabazz, Gerard Reshard of The Forum Magazine, and countless others who have dedicated their lives to uplifting the community. Motorcycle clubs, fraternity members, Moors, Jews, Catholics, Democrats, Republicans—this was a diverse tapestry of men united under one purpose: faith and progress.

The event concluded with the powerful recitation of the pledge given by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan at the Million Man March. This symbolic act reminded the attendees of their responsibility to uplift themselves and their brothers, to serve their families, and to strengthen their communities.

One of the most striking aspects of this gathering was the absence of media coverage. “No news coverage! Not even so-called Black publications!” Minister Troy Muhammad emphasized. But instead of lamenting this, he saw it as an opportunity: “We need to show the best of what our people are doing to inspire the best in all of us.” Plans are now underway to create a community publication to highlight the positive actions and stories that often go untold.

This event is a shining example of what happens when faith meets action. Minister Troy Muhammad’s leadership, rooted in the teachings of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, is inspiring men to rise above the challenges of their environment and become agents of change. “Together, we win,” Minister Troy Muhammad declared, and the event proved this truth.

As we enter a new year, let this gathering serve as a reminder that prayer, unity, and reconciliation are the keys to transforming our communities. Let it inspire us to build stronger families, safer neighborhoods, and brighter futures. All praise is due to Allah for this incredible movement and for the unwavering leadership of Student Minister Troy Muhammad. Together, with faith as our foundation, there is no limit to what we can achieve. Together, we win.
