When we visited the Saint Charles Towne Center shopping Mall in Waldorf, MD ( The very end of the mall on the first floor. ), we encountered some good-spirited people dedicated to ensuring our community's health through their services. J and M Royalty Services provided one of these services, a business run by a passionate couple focused on holistic wellness. The married couple introduced us to something unique that we weren't familiar with—CBD. This is not an endorsement of CBD but something we took the liberty to educate ourselves about.

"CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in cannabis plants. Now, before we get excited about this being a cannabis plant, this is something totally different. It is known for its potential therapeutic benefits without the psychoactive effects associated with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD is commonly used in different forms, such as oils, tinctures, capsules, edibles, and topicals."

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis that has gained popularity for its potential health benefits. Here are some of the benefits according to the Mayo Clinic and drugs.com

Pain Relief: CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity and interacting with neurotransmitters. This is particularly evident in conditions like arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

Anxiety and Depression: Some studies suggest that CBD can help with serotonin regulation, potentially easing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Human studies have shown mixed results, but some people report significant improvements in mood

Sleep Disorders: CBD may improve sleep quality for people with anxiety, pain, or other conditions. Studies have shown that CBD can help people fall asleep and stay asleep, although results can vary over time.

Epilepsy: The FDA has approved a CBD-based drug, Epidiolex, for the treatment of certain types of epilepsy. This highlights CBD's potential in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures

Acne: CBD's anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to reduce sebum production make it a promising treatment for acne. Topical applications can help manage and reduce outbreaks

Parkinson’s Disease: Early studies suggest that CBD might improve the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s disease by alleviating symptoms such as tremors and sleep disturbances

Nausea and Vomiting: While CBD alone may not be highly effective, a combination of CBD and THC has shown promise in reducing nausea and vomiting, particularly in chemotherapy patients

Despite these potential benefits, According to Mayo clinic CBD can cause side effects like fatigue, irritability, and interactions with other medications. More studies and clinical trials are needed to confirm these benefits and understand the long-term effects of CBD use. It's important to consult with healthcare professionals before starting any new medication or supplement,
